Student Class Schedule

Creative Dramatics- 2nd- 4th Grade

8-Week Session- 50 minute classes- $250

Saturday 10:00 am- 10:50 am or Thursdays 4:00pm- 4:50 pm 

Creative Dramatics will encourage freedom of expression, in a healthy, collaborative environment. We will explore storytelling through character development, improvisation, pantomime, as well as principles and concepts to create and write material. This encourages actors to make bold choices, and to commit to those choices. Being one’s self is highly encouraged. There’s a place for every “character” in the theatre. We also teach and encourage healthy constructive criticism, without speaking negatively to other actor’s choices. We teach creativity and collaboration. Classes Start September 7th.

Middle School of the Arts Audition Preparation- 5th Grade

6-Week Session- 50 minute classes- $200

Saturday 11:00 am- 11:50 pm or Wednesday 5:30 pm-6:20 pm

Building on principles taught in Creative Dramatics, the next level of preparation means applying these theatrical choices to scripted material. Using A/ B or open scenes similar to ones used in auditions, we explore how to translate bold choices to be informed by the text. We explore and understand pantomime and how that can benefit our work. We deal with specificity and truth while teaching how to support and work with many types of students. This is a 6- week class but taking a similar class after, or scheduling private lessons to supplement fall session learning is encouraged. Classes start September 7th.

High School of the Arts Audition Preparation- 7th and 8th Grade 

6-Week Session- 80 Minute Classes- $300

Saturday 12:00 pm- 1:20 pm or Wednesday 6:30 pm- 8:00 pm

Building on principles established as students progress through the training, students are now focused on finding and working on material appropriate for success at any audition, as well as specific programs. Students will be taught cold reading and interview skills for success in all auditions and future employment opportunities. 80 minute classes afford us individual time with each student and gain specific insights that will benefit all auditioning. Students will leave the class with two contrasting monologues, having worked both.This is a 6- week class but taking a similar class after, or scheduling private lessons to supplement fall session learning is encouraged. Classes start September 7th.

College Audition and Pre Screen Preparation- 12th Grade

6-Week Session- 80 Minute Classes- $300 

Saturday 1:30 pm- 3:00 pm

(Discount to $50/hr for pre-screen tapings included with registration for course). 

Building on principles established as students progress through the training, students are now focused on finding and working on material appropriate for success at any audition, as well as specific college programs. Students will leave with at least three pieces to work and two they feel strongly about upon completion of this 6-week course. 80 minute classes afford us individual time with each student and gain specific insights that will benefit all auditioning.This is a 6-week class but taking a similar class after, or scheduling private lessons to supplement fall session learning is encouraged. Classes start September 7th.

Improv for Beginners- 5th Grade- 8th Grade

8-Week Session- 50 minute Classes- $250

Monday 4:00 pm- 4:50 pm

Students in Improv for Beginners will learn the basics of building story from scratch without scripts. Students will create stories with others while engaging in active listening and supporting their strong choices. Students will learn principles of pantomime and object work as it relates to improv. This class will ask students to “play to the top of their intelligence” and avoid crude humor and potty jokes. This can prove invaluable in Middle School. The confidence gained from success in the world of improv will translate to their social lives. Classes start September 9th.

Acting For the Camera- 6th-12th Grade

6- Week Session- 50 minute classes- $250

Thursday 5:00 pm- 5:50 pm

Students in Acting for the Camera will learn basic principles of on camera acting and how it differs from the stage. Students will record pieces each class, and have the opportunity to view and critique their work through a student “Dropbox” file. Students will have opportunities to re tape certain lessons and build their on camera skills. Multiple takes and continuity of performance will be a focus in certain classes. Discussion of vocal clarity and a clean recording with edits will be a focus. Students will gain confidence in front of the camera while learning collaborative working skills and constructive criticism. Classes start September 12th.
